Adding Catenary Equipment to a Structure

Equipment is used to support a catenary wire on a structure

In Lineardraft, you can add equipment when first creating the wire, when attaching a wire to a structure, or by editing an existing wire point. This process is slightly different depending on whether you're attaching the equipment to a mast or a gantry, which is detailed below.

Step 1: Navigate to the 'Wires' section of the Lineardraft toolbar

Step 2: Access the 'Configure Wire' window

This can be done by creating a new wire, attaching a wire or editing an existing wire point.

Step 3: Tick the 'Equipment' checkbox

Ticking this checkbox expands the 'Configure Wire' window, allowing you to attach equipment to the structure.

Step 4: Click a '[Mast]' so it is highlighted

If the wire is attached to a portal you will be able to choose which mast to attach the equipment to.

Top tip: If the reach value displayed in the 'Configure' window is not suitable, you can click on the 'Edit Support' button and adjust the value. You can also edit the mast length in this window. Learn more here.

Step 5: Click 'Add Bracket'

This will open the 'Add Bracket' window. You can alternatively select an existing bracket from the equipment editor.

Step 6: Configure bracket and click 'Confirm'

Select a bracket style from the drop-down menu and review the 'Location' and 'Rotation'. Learn more about bracket locations here. Clicking 'Confirm' will close this window.

Step 7 (Optional): Select bracket '[Slot]'

If your chosen bracket has more than one wire support slot, choose the appropriate slot.

Step 8: Configure equipment

Using the drop-down menus, select the wire support and wire support style you would like to allocate.

Top tip: You can customise the wire support style parameters of your chosen wire support style by clicking the 'Customise' button. Find out more here.

Step 9: Click 'Confirm'

This will close the 'Configure Wire' window and apply the changes to your model.
