When placing or editing a structure, the 'Edit Structure' window allows you to configure the structure to your specific requirements. The article below outlines the capabilities of the 'Edit Structure' window.
If you would like to follow the full process of placing a structure or editing a structure please see the linked articles.
The 'Edit Structure' window has four main configurable sections and a track details overview. The four sections are:
- Structure Details
- Mast & gantry configuration
- Foundation & adapter plate configuration
- Additional configuration
The window will differ slightly between structure types, as detailed below.
Structure Details
The structure details section allows you to configure the identifying features of your structure.
Type: Type allows you to choose what type of structure you'd like to place or change your current structure to. You can choose from a list of applicable structure types including STCs, TTCs, portals, attachment points.
Name: This allows you to allocate a name to your structure by typing in each of the boxes. The number of boxes will be dictated by the requirements of your project laid out in your project settings and the name will show in the structure box in the plan view.
Chainage: Allows you to input a chainage value, ordinarily measured in kilometres.
Secondary Chainage: Secondary chainage is only applicable if it has been activated as part of your project settings. This allows you to add an optional additional chainage value alongside the standard chainage. Useful as a reference in projects which interface with additional chainage systems.
Mast & Gantry Configuration
Mast and gantry configuration will display differently depending on your structure type. For a TTC or portal structure, both mast(s) and the gantry will be configurable in the 'Edit Structure' window.
Mast Configuration
Structure Support Label: Allows you to apply a label to differentiate between structure supports when attaching equipment, editing a structure, or reading a structure details report. Typically labelled differently depending on whether the support is located to the left or right of their associated track when viewing in the direction of increasing chainage.
Mast Type: Allows you to choose from a list of applicable masts available in a drop down menu. If your structure already has equipment attached, clicking this drop down will open the 'Configure Steelwork' window to allow for further configuration.
Length: Allows you configure the length of your mast by either overtyping in the box or using the up/down arrows to increase or decrease the length by allocable increments.
Bearing: Allows you to adjust the rotation of the mast by overtyping in the box, or using the up/down arrows to increase or decrease the rotation, measured clockwise from North (0°). Using the 'Match' button will set the bearing to the same as that of the foundation, and the 'Reset' button will return the bearing to the default value. For further information on adjusting a mast's bearing please click the link.
RECOS: RECOS allows to you adjust the distance between the centre of a mast and the running edge of the closest rail, of the closest associated track. Changing the mast type will not affect the RECOS.
REFOS: RECOS allows you to adjust the distance between the face of a mast and the running edge of the closest rail, of the closest associated track. Changing the mast type will affect the REFOS.
Top Gap: Allows you to adjust the spacing between the top of the adapter plate (if present) and base of the mast, usually measured in metres. If no adapter plate is present this option will not be available, and the 'Gap' option is used to change the foundation gap (see: Foundation & Adapter Plate Configuration).
Gantry Configuration
A portal structure will have a very similar 'Edit Structure' window, with the main differences being the presence of additional controls to configure a second mast, identical to those outlined above, and the addition of gantry configuration options as shown below. These options will also be visible when placing/editing a TTC structure.
Gantry Type: Allows you to choose from a list of applicable gantries available in a drop down menu. If your structure already has equipment attached, clicking this drop down will open the 'Configure Steelwork' window to allow further configuration.
Length: Defines the length of the gantry which can be adjusted by overtyping or using the up/down arrows.
Height: Defines the height of the underside of the gantry above HRL; adjusting this will automatically adjust the length of the supporting mast or masts.
Foundation & Adapter Plate Configuration
Foundations, and their associated adapter plates if applicable, can be edited in a very similar way to masts and gantries.
Adapter Plate Type: If an adapter plate is required between your mast and foundation, this allows you to choose from a drop down list of applicable adapter plates.
Gap/Bottom Gap: Allows you to configure the distance between the top of the foundation and the base of the mast (or base of adapter plate if one is being used), by overtyping in the box or using the up/down arrows to increase or decrease the distance by allocable increments.
Top of Foundation: Allows you to adjust the height above (or below) sea level of the top surface of the foundation, by either overtyping or adjusting using the up/down arrows. The 'Reset' button can be used to reset the top of foundation to the default value determined by your project settings.
Foundation Type: This allows you to choose from a drop down list of applicable foundations for the mast you have selected.
Length: Allows you to adjust the length of the foundation by either overtyping in the box or using the up/down arrows to increase or decrease the length by allocable increments.
Bearing: Allows you to adjust the rotation of the bearing by overtyping in the box, or using the up/down arrows to increase or decrease the rotation, measured clockwise from North (0°). Using the 'Match' button will set the bearing to the same as that of the mast, and the 'Reset' button will return the bearing to the default value. For further information on adjusting the foundation bearing please click the link.
Additional Configuration
Further configuration of structures can be made through the 'Backties', 'Ornaments' and 'Settings' buttons.
Backties: Allows you to add, edit and remove backties from your structure.
Ornaments: Allows you to add, edit and remove ornaments from your structure.
Settings: Opens the 'Structure Settings' window in which you can configure specifics about your structure boxes and symbols, edit the status of your structure, along with other other settings options shown below.
Attachment Point
The 'Edit Structure' window for attachment points looks similar to that of single mast structures (e.g. STCs) with some slight differences.
Label: Allows you to apply a label to differentiate between structure supports when attaching equipment, editing a structure, or reading a structure details report. Typically labelled differently depending on whether they are located to the left or right of their associated track, when viewing in the direction of increasing chainage.
Attachment Point Type: Allows you to choose between, 'Wall', 'Soffit', and 'None' to distinguish between the type of attachment point you are placing or editing.
Relative Height: Defines the height at which you would like the attachment point to be placed relative to HRL.
RECOS: Defines the distance between the centre of the attachment point and the running edge of the closest rail.
Bearing: Defines the orientation of the attachment point measured clockwise, in degrees from North (0°).
