In span equipment is vital for the accurate 2D and 3D modelling of OLE wire runs. Learn how to attach in span equipment in Lineardraft by following the steps below.
Step 1: Navigate to the ‘In Span’ section of the Lineardraft toolbar
Step 2: Click the 'Attach' button
Step 3: Click on a wire to which you would like to attach the in span equipment
In this example, a catenary wire has been selected. Your selection will open the ‘Create In Span equipment’ window, and your equipment will be provisionally placed in the first span of the wire run.
Top tip: You can also click on a structure at this step, and it will provisionally place the equipment in the span following the chosen structure, in the direction of increasing chainage.
Step 4: Click the 'Locate' button and select the lowest chainage structure of the relevant span
You can also use the 'From Structure' dropdown menu to do this.
Step 5: Open the 'Item' dropdown and select the required in span equipment
Step 6: In the ‘Distance’ section, select how you want to position your equipment in the span
There are two positioning methods: 'Absolute' and 'Ratio'.
Absolute - Allows you to enter the distance in metres your in span equipment will be placed from the selected 'From Structure'. For example, if you enter '15', your equipment will be 15 metres from the selected 'From Structure'.
Ratio - Positions your equipment proportionally in the span length, based on a value between 0 and 1. For example, entering '0.500' will place your equipment at the halfway point of your span. With this positioning method, if your span length changes, your in span equipment will automatically be repositioned to remain at the halfway point of the span.
Step 7: Use the arrows below the ‘Distance’ section to adjust the location of the in span equipment along the wire
Alternatively, you can type in the value.
Step 8: Click ‘Confirm’
This will place your in span equipment and close the 'Create In Span equipment' window.
