When placing or editing a bracket or SPS, you have the ability to select a 'Location'. This article covers what locations are in relation to these items. To learn more about the specific 'Add'/'Edit' windows, click here for brackets, and here for SPS.
When brackets and SPS are modelled into our design catalogues by the Lineardraft team, they are designed with a set of locations specifying where they can be placed on a mast, gantry, or drop tube, as defined by the design range.
The location that is selected also defines what 'Rotation' options you are presented with, as some locations may only have one possible rotation option, whilst others have may multiple.
Locations can be limited to a range or point along a mast, gantry, or drop tube; or non-limited.
Top Tip: Limited locations are identified by their minimum and maximum values in the 'Add Bracket/SPS' windows, whilst non-limited locations will show their values as 'None'.
For example, the aerial earth wire bracket below has multiple locations. Some of these locations have the same minimum and maximum 'Distance'. This is because the selected location is defined by the end of the gantry, therefore 'Distance' from mast cannot be altered. This is known as a limited location.
Limited locations aren't always fixed points. The image below shows a location limited to a range along a gantry. This allows you to move the bracket between the minimum and maximum values shown in the 'Edit Bracket' window.
When using a limited location, equipment and wire positions are updated automatically whenever structure parameters, such as mast or gantry length, are changed. For example the ATF bracket below is placed at a 'Top Of Mast' location, so will be automatically updated when the mast length is edited.
Alternatively, some brackets and SPS use non-limited locations, which have no minimum or maximum value, meaning they can be placed anywhere along the steelwork. When using non-limited locations, brackets and SPS will not be affected by changes to mast or gantry length.
